Wind farms are useless because the power generated is intermittent. Therefore they can never replace fossil or nuclear stations. . Not one coal or nuclear generator has ever been turned off because of wind power. They don't operate when there is not enough wind or there is too much wind. Climate change will mean that the weather in Scotland as we have seen in recent weeks will become windier and the turbines will be turned off even more . When they are not in operation they suck power from the grid.

The only people who really profit from them are the developers who because of Gordon Brown's generous ROC subsidy means that operating a wind farm is similar to minting your own money. They employ precious few people.

They do great damage to the natural habitat and untold damage to tourism, which in an increasingly competitive world, is a vital source of income for many, many people.

Wind turbines are the con of the century. Huge amounts of energy are required to erect them and create their infrastructure. More electricity is lost in transmission than is generated.

We already export 25% of our electricity to England. If the English need more energy they should erect more wind farms in their own country. A tiny proposal was turned down in Tony Blair's constituency and the Lake District is now turning them down so they don't the natural beauty.......

It is far more effective to save energy. If we all swapped one conventional lightbulb for an energy saving lightbulb it would do more good than all the turbines blighting our beautiful country.

Incidentally one very profitable wind farm is at Ardrossan, operated by Airtricity, UK Chairman Brian Wilson, the former energy minister. Need I say more? Allan Wilson, his former parliamentary agent, is the main person on the Scottish Executive who decides whether or not wind farms get approval. Come to your own conclusion.
